St. Charles Borromeo Seminary

Ambler, PA

St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, originally founded in Philadelphia in 1832, relocated to a new campus in Ambler, Pennsylvania in 2024. This move marked a new chapter in the seminary’s long history, as it transitioned from its historic Overbrook campus to the Gwynedd Mercy University campus in Lower Gwynedd. Our skilled liturgical designers assisted the Seminary in carefully disassembling their historic marble furnishings and reassembling them in the new chapel, preserving the craftsmanship and sacred character of the original worship space. The project also included the installation of new marble furnishings designed to match and complement the existing pieces, creating a unified and harmonious sanctuary.

This chapel was later recognized with a 2026 award from the Faith & Form Awards, which honors excellence in religious architecture and liturgical art. The jury specifically noted the successful incorporation of consecrated objects from the previous campus and the way the new chapel respects tradition while presenting a bright, fresh, and forward-looking sacred space.
